The Making of Digital Art

The creation of a digital painting often takes as much time as a traditional painting.

Many of our pictures take a long time because all the objects or models are formed out of geometrical parts with the help of computer programs such as Bryce, Cinema 4D, True Space or Poser. Then we „paint" textures using  programs like Corel Draw or Photoshop and apply them to the objects.

Although many pictures look very „real" we never use any photos.

When the objects are ready (as grids), the textures are applied to the surfaces and the lighting is perfect the computer starts calculating - sometimes it needs several days for a single picture.  For high quality digital prints we need files larger than 25 MB each.

The pictures (starting at  40 x 50 cm) are printed on canvas, then mounted like a painting. We use longlife pigments for the printer; additional to this we apply several coats of a special UV-protection varnish.

All pictures are framed with high-quality wooden frames.
